BA Pumps & Sprayers has put together eight tips on how to get the best out of your sprayer

It’s almost time to start those autumn spraying jobs so BA Pumps & Sprayers have put together eight tips on how to get the best out of your sprayer.

  1. Service your sprayer in the pre-season.
  2. Watch the weather to reduce product wastage from factors such as wind drift.
  3. Calibrate your sprayer to ensure the correct product quantity is being delivered to the crop and is routinely checked.
  4. Spray nozzles are a small but important part of spraying. Read the product instructions and refer to the nozzle manufacturer’s chart to ensure you use the right one for your application.
  5. Train operators to correctly set up nozzles, fans, and the usage of rate controllers.
  6. Mix chemicals before adding them to the main tank to ensure product fully dissolves.
  7. Have a cleaning process in place after each spraying to ensure you remove all product from your sprayer.
  8. Regularly test and inspect your pressure gauge, flow meters, nozzles, and sprayer output to ensure they’re operating at the optimal settings.
