Norwood and Horsch have ended their exclusive distribution and retail agreement for the New Zealand market.

Norwood and Horsch have enjoyed a long and respectful relationship and both businesses recognise it’s time to move on. The decision is mutual and amicable, and the process is expected to be finalised by the middle of the year.

Horsch sales reached record levels in New Zealand in 2022 but the expansion of the Horsch product range during a 15-year partnership with Norwood has added complexity to Norwood’s product portfolio and created competition between the brands it represents.

“We’re extremely proud of the progress we’ve made developing a market for Horsch products, but we’ve had to reassess whether the partnership was still meeting the needs of both parties,” says Rod Gardner, Norwood’s national product manager. “We wish Horsch and the incoming sales and support agent all the very best.”

“At a global level, Horsch is looking to work with market partners who provide exclusive support for our expanding product range. We’ve forged a strong and successful relationship with Norwood and are thankful for the work they have done to establish the Horsch brand in New Zealand, but we agree that it’s time for a change so that both businesses can meet their goals,” says Micha Trotzky, Horsch’s Southern Europe, Oceania, and Africa territory manager.

Horsch products will continue to play a part in the success of New Zealand farmers and growers, with Horsch announcing a new partnership with Carrfields.

“We’re excited at what this development means for Carrfields,” says Craig Carr Carrfields Group managing director. “We’re looking forward to further developing the work that Norwood has done over the years and are excited to be partnering with a global leader in the development of agricultural equipment technology. Horsch will be a fantastic addition to our stable of premium machinery brands.”

All three businesses will work together to ensure the transition to Carrfields is as smooth as possible for Horsch customers. Norwood will continue to sell and service Horsch products and support the brand and its customers over the coming months until the transition is completed.
