The Otorohanga Vintage Machinery Club (OVMC) held its annual Tractor Pull

The Otorohanga Vintage Machinery Club (OVMC) held its annual Tractor Pull and open day recently, having postponed an earlier date due to wet weather. With 19 club members competing with 22 tractors on a beautiful sunny Saturday, the trophies and certificates were hotly contested.

Each OVMC event has a team of people making it all run smoothly and this year's event was no exception, with Richard le Fleming and Duncan Roobottom leading the team.

Pull Masters Peter Gray (High Horsepower sled) and Keith Todd (44 Horsepower and under sled) adjudicated more than 100 pulls between them, with last years' winners returning to defend their titles. Whether they succeeded or not is under wraps until the
Club's prize-giving ceremony in July.

It was good to see Allan Harnett giving his County 954 a workout on the High Horsepower sled. New member Michael Ritch, with a later tractor model of Case IH 5130 participated for the first time.

This year also saw two sisters, Rose and Sarah de Haan, competing on their father's International 545. Bill Roberts created a spectacle with extra fuel on his Nuffield 1060 creating some fantastic smoke rings.

Members also had displays of military gear, vintage fire engines, vintage stationery engines, and other items entered into the Best Presented Restorations Award.
