Farm Trader checks out the action at Leadfoot Festival, an annual event, attracting motorsport legends and championship racers, as well as an intriguing mix of classic cars, vintage motorcycles, and more

It was a high octane weekend in Coromandel, with the roar of engines and squeal of tires replacing the usual rural birdsong. Held on the 150-acre property of Rod and Shelly Millen, Rod gave the  competition a run for their money, winning the pre-1975 class in his 1974 Mazda RX3.

The Top Ten Shootout was a tightly paced event, with the overall win going to Scottish rally star Alister McRae in his Vantage Subaru WRX.

Crowds flocked to see the action, on the track lined with massive hay bales – and drivers included IndyCar’s Scott Dixon, world motocross GP legend Josh Coppins and world champion drifter Vaughn Gittin Junior.

Dates have already been set for Leadfoot Festival 2019 (2 to 3 February), so mark it in your calendar.
