A UK-based company has developed the world’s first off-highway zero-emission electric ATV
A UK-based company that has developed the world’s first off-highway zero-emission all-terrain electric vehicle is now overfunding after launching a Crowdcube investment campaign.
Funds quickly accumulated in a matter of days for the electric vehicle developed by EMotive located in Devon, England from investors in more than 15 countries, including Finland, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and Belgium.

The initial target of £180,000 was easily smashed for the prototype vehicle that’s geared up to be the eco-alternative to the Unimog tractor vehicle produced by Mercedes-Benz.
The company says the funds will help them take their vehicle to the next stage of development, then ready for demonstration and finally to mass production, manufactured under licence by other companies.
EMotive says its ATV, which they call scarab, will have a variety of uses in off-highway industries such as agriculture, fire rescue, forestry and in adventure tourism.
"Our vehicle technology is built around a state-of-the-art, world-leading powertrain that delivers modulated pure electric drive to wheels individually via a unique smart power delivery system," the company says.
"Our energy storage systems use a combination of cutting-edge battery chemistry and other electrical energy storage to create a unique system capable of high-power delivery and enhanced endurance.
"Low running costs and system maintenance, plus the vehicle design being built around ease of maintenance, provide significant cost savings to the vehicle owner and fleet operators."

The ATV will be available with different power level options

Basically, this ATV platform is built on a chassis with six wheels and a gross weight of 12 tonnes. With the electrically driven wheels it can use two-, four-, or six-wheel drive transmissions and supports a payload of up to six tonnes.
Especially for use in agriculture, the vehicle can be fitted with a front linkage and PTO system. The company says the ATV will be available with different power level options and the peak output of the base vehicle is 668kW or 895.8hp, supplied by a battery pack.
EMotive has already spent £2 million developing this machine and says a prototype model will be ready for testing in the next few months.
