While New Zealand Agricultural Fieldays® has a long legacy of launching everything from new agricultural machinery to the latest technology and innovation, there’s no doubt that it’s the new vehicle reveals that draw the crowds.

This year’s official unveiling of the MY23 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 range was a definite drawcard, with crowds flocking to see the exciting LTZ Premium and off-road orientated ZR2, delivered by GM Specialty Vehicles, with dealer partner Ebbett GMSV.

Talking points included the first-ever ZR2 suspension package (with High-Performance Lifted Suspension and Multimatic DSSV™ dampers), offering unheralded off-road capability complemented by on-road refinement.

Both the ZR2 and LTZ Premium offer a freshly restyled interior and slick exterior aesthetics, but more important are the performance attributes, with the LTZ Premium delivering 4.5-tonne towing and the off-road focused ZR2 delivering 4.2-tonne towing.

"The MY23 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 will help people in their quest to live big, whether towing their caravan or boat, off-roading, or simply getting from A-to-B in a premium full-size truck," says GM Specialty Vehicles director Greg Rowe.

"The first-ever ZR2 will become a go-to vehicle for those who want to adventure off-the-beaten-track, but the suppleness and refinement of the vehicle mean that the journey is as enjoyable as the destination."

Both the LTZ Premium and the ZR2 feature the 6.2-litre EcoTech3 V8 engine, the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 engine in its class with 313kW of power and 624Nm of torque (VFACTS ‘Pick-Up/CC > $100K’ segment). When towing, the 10-speed automatic transmission provides seamless and smooth transitions from gear to gear.

Safety is at the forefront in the MY23 truck, with both models offering a comprehensive suite of active and passive advanced safety technology and driver assistance features.

Some of these standard features include Rear-Cross Traffic Alert, StabiliTrak® Electronic Stability Control System with Traction Control and Forward Collision Alert with Low-Speed Automatic Emergency Braking.

"The new MY23 Chevrolet Silverado will cement itself as the benchmark for those who want to live big as they tour and tow around the country in comfort and style, as well as adventure off-road in the absolute best GMSV has to offer," says Greg.
