John Deere has been presented with American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) AE50 awards for its N500C Series air drill, and its 2700 and 2750 PrecisionCut and E-Cut Hybrid Triplex mowers
Every year the ASABE recognises the 50 most innovative product engineering designs in the food and agriculture industry with its AE50 Awards, as chosen by international engineering experts. Winning products are recognised for ingenuity in product development, and for saving producers’ time, costs and labour while improving safety.
“AE50 Awards reaffirm the innovative spirit of our employees and illustrate John Deere’s commitment to bring those linked to the land the most useful, high-quality products possible. No one in the industry invests more in research and development than John Deere, and we remain committed to that strategy,” says Joel Dawson, director, production and precision ag for John Deere. “Our engineers take great pride in creating new technology and products to benefit our customers.”
N500C Series Air Drill
Dawson says the N500C Series Air Drill gives operators easy meter access, the latest in integrated technology for improved seed placement accuracy, and control and confidence to help them do the best seeding job possible for cereals, canola, soybeans and other crops.
New technologies added to the N500C Air Drills include John Deere ActiveCal tank scales for on-the-go seeding calibration from the cab, RelativeFlow blockage for row-to-row seed-flow monitoring, TruSet down force control from the cab, and the SeederPlus app for convenient calibration of meters and weight monitoring for tank scales.
PrecisionCut and E-Cut Hybrid Triplex Mowers
The John Deere 2700 and 2750 PrecisionCut and E-Cut Hybrid Triplex Mowers were also honoured as a 2020 AE50 Award winner. The triplex mowers are equipped with the TechControl system, which is passcode protected and allows superintendents, technicians, and other trusted supervisors to input commands, controlling nearly everything regarding the operator’s performance, including frequency of clip, turn speed, clean up pass speed, and how fast the cutting units raise and lower.
Engines on all models are electronically controlled, and include an Eco mode, which automatically reduces engine speed when mowing, saving up to 30% in fuel and up to 3 dB(A) in sound levels.
The open platform design with a low centre of gravity ensures excellent stability and traction performance. The 2700 and 2750 Triplex Mowers offer a 157.5 cm (62 in.) mowing width and mow speeds of up to 9.7 kph for increased productivity.
