Below the Belt is on the journey to fight five highly prevalent below the belt cancers
When it comes to talking men’s health below the belt, there can be a certain reticence.
Co-ordinating with Prostate Cancer Awareness month (September), ANZUP Cancer Trials Group is encouraging Kiwis to commit to an active September for its new fundraising event called Below the Belt #YourWay.
Due to COVID-19, ANZUP’s annual fundraising event Below the Belt Pedalthon has been postponed until 2021, so the #YourWay challenge aims to get Kiwis (and Aussies) moving, whether cycling, walking or running. Just walk, run, or cycle as many kilometres as you can throughout September.
Participants are encouraged to fundraise as they take part in the challenge, sharing their progress with friends, family, and workmates to help support them and raise awareness along the way.
ANZUP’s mission is to improve the outcomes for people diagnosed with below the belt (bladder, kidney, testicular, penile, or prostate) cancer and its work is recognised in New Zealand and across the world as leading the field in genitourinary cancer research.
The Below the Belt #YourWay campaign allows Kiwis to get involved without any risk of the event being impacted by COVID-19 because they can do the kilometres in their own time and space. ANZUP’s aim is to raise $100k that will directly go to clinical trials research for ‘below the belt’ cancers.
