Ravensdown update on earthquake situation
Ravensdown chief executive Greg Campbell today gave the following update about the earthquake affecting North Canterbury.
"Our thoughts are with all the communities affected by the destructive earthquake and aftershocks. As the damage is assessed across the region, the key thing is that our customers, employees, contractors and all their families remain safe.
All the local team have been accounted for and are safe. Stores in Nelson, Blenheim and Amberley have been visually inspected and working as usual. Lime quarries in Ngarua near Kaiteriteri and Whiterock Lime near Amberley are open and despatching lime as usual, but not producing lime until they are inspected and classed as safe.
The Culverden and Cheviot stores are open and operating as normal; however, request that customers contact the store prior to collecting.
Any damage to customers’ silos is being assessed and on-farm deliveries of products such as agchem and animal health may be prevented in the worst affected areas due to road closures.
Shareholders who need to check up-to-date logistical arrangements can check the website and call the Customer Centre on 0800 100 123. They can also discuss delivery options to disrupted locations with their Agri Manager or Customer Centre.
There is no doubt that the resilience of these communities will be sorely tested, but they will bounce back. The regional recovery from this event is likely to take months, if not years, and Ravensdown will continue to do what it can to support the affected community throughout this time and beyond."
