She recognises the array of talent across the agri-sector with men who are highly skilled and genuine. However, to grab the top spots, they must step out of their comfort zone.

The list isn’t open to the public yet, but clues will be released over the next two weeks when the finalists leave for the Farmlands Road Trip.

The winner from these eight bachelors will walk away with a prize pack worth over $20,000 and a chance for love. The eight finalists will be revealed on Monday 12 June.

The Farmlands Roadtrip begins in Auckland, making their way south they will stop at in Pukekohe, Matamata and Rotorua Farmland stores, completing challenges from fencing to flower arranging.

On Tuesday, the bachelors will take part in a challenge at Maratori Rural school in Taupo before visiting Te Kuiti and Te Awamutu Farmland stores. They will arrive for Fieldays on Wednesday 14 June 2017.

Skills, attitude and all-round charisma will be tested at Fielddays competitive challenges, from physical strength and fitness to fencing and cooking to dog handling.

Although these challenges are largely agricultural-based, a few fun twists will be thrown to test the character of these bachelors.

The Rural Bachelor of the Year, and People’s choice will be announced at the official prize giving on the Village Green on Saturday at 12pm.
