Claas announces 40,000th Jaguar harvester
The milestone machine to be rolled out was the top-of-the-line Jaguar 960 Terra Trac
Claas recently announced that it’s built its 40,000th Jaguar forage harvester—the top-of-the-line Jaguar 960 Terra Trac.
The milestone machine features a ‘big cat’ decal on its side panels and will be deployed as a demonstration machine throughout Europe this summer.
Claas’ history with Jaguar dates back to 1973 when the Jaguar 60, the first self-propelled harvester, boasting a 120hp engine, was released. Three years later, the 213hp Jaguar 80 was released.
The Jaguar 600, released in 1983, is regarded by aficionados as the first ‘modern’ forage harvester.
Sporting a contemporary design and a spacious cab borrowed from the Lexicon combine harvester, the six-row model incorporated a corn cracker, a discharge accelerator and integrated lever-based controls.
Within five years, the line-up had been extended to comprise six models spanning 215 to 354 hp.
More than 7000 units were sold in less than five years, making CLAAS the undisputed market leader in Europe. More models were released over the year, and today, Claas offers 12 models across the 900 and 800 series.
