Plenty of good old-fashioned rural community fun was on the cards at the recent North Hokianga A&P Show
As well as rides and fairground-style attractions, there were plenty of events that have been at the heart of A&P Shows for generations, including floral artistry, arts and crafts, home produce, cooking, needlework, and knitting and even an award for the best potato (Aran Nelley).
The equestrian section included pony classes, showing, and hunter events, while across the grounds, shearing, dog trials, and axe men competitions took place alongside cattle showing and a Calf Club Class.
Northland Regional Council was also onsite to help with information about the Draft Freshwater Plan and local businesses were showcasing their products and services.
Local boat skipper and fisherman Craig Pinkney was incognito dressed as a clown creating balloon animals for visiting youngsters. Digger drives and bucket rides were also a huge drawcard.
A&P Shows such as this offer an opportunity for communities to come together and celebrate the businesses and people at the heart of the district.
