The common requests in a trailer are that it’s stable, multipurpose, robust, and has a low cost of ownership, to name a few.

The CP20 has been built from the ground up to meet these needs starting with the heavy-duty granning axles that are wider tracking to give the trailer an overall width of 2.9 metres and the 420 x 180mm brakes to ensure efficient braking and long life of brake shoes. The bathtub body is made with pressed Hardox steel to ensure strength and longevity.

The silage sides are quick and easy to remove with a loader tractor or a telehandler so that the trailer can be changed from silage to dirt for a wet day during the season.

The chassis design is unique to Stewart, with the bin chassis sitting inside the trailer chassis. This brings multiple benefits, including bringing the overall height of the trailer down. It also makes where the chassis is mounted to the axle as wide as possible to improve the stability and paired with the heavy-duty suspension, ensures a great towing trailer that’s stable on hills.

The central grease bank makes it easy for operators to maintain the trailer. The trailer is finished in flexi paint, which is tougher than standard paint and more resistant to stone chips and dents, which can peel standard paint.

Each Stewart trailer is custom-built to suit the customers’ requirements. The Construction Pro 20s seen in the pictures here have been built with air suspension to increase stability and ride comfort. Other features include auto lube, LED work lights, and a toolbox for convenience and to ensure that the trailer is always greased and maintained correctly during peak season hours. The customer wanted the trailers to be stable and wide but also manoeuvrable and easy to pull around on the hills, so the deck length was adjusted to 5.5 metres, which James Stewart and the team at Stewart Trailers were happy to design and build.

The Stewart CP20 is available in the North Island through TRC Tractors and in the South Island through Ikon Machinery.
