It’s a new year and a new ToolShed — well, for Taupō and Gisborne regions anyway, with the opening of two brand-new stores to start the year with a bang. After a successful 25 years trading as The ToolShed, the 26th year for the company has already been an eventful one. Having officially opened the 30th ToolShed location in Aotearoa, the company’s history of being trusted in New Zealand by Kiwis and tradies is evident.

The ToolShed Taupō

January was the official grand opening for The ToolShed Taupō, a brand-new, 1000sqm purpose-built store, located on the way into the main township of Taupō, at 29 Pioneers Lane. The event lasted two days, starting with a visit and kōrero from the Taupō district mayor, David Trewavas. The day was packed full of fun activities and tasty BBQs. All four main suppliers — Milwaukee, Makita, DeWalt, and HiKOKI — had their event tents set up for fun challenges and product demonstrations.

The ToolShed showcased their products providing the opportunity to try before you buy. With an estimated 1000 people through the doors, we were thankful to have the Taupō district residents come to support us and give a friendly South Waikato hello.

The new Gisborne store is about three times bigger

In February, we did a soft opening of the newly located Gisborne store, situated just before the main roundabout at 460 Gladstone Road. The new store is about three times bigger, better, and under new management. The Gisborne store was one of the first ToolShed stores set up 25 years ago, and we wanted to continue the strong partnership with the region due to the massive part they play in our history. We couldn’t let The ToolShed Gisborne fade out as a piece of the past. With an entirely new staff and fresh products delivered in late 2023, the store is getting primed and prepared for its grand opening that will happen soon.

In preparation for these new locations, The ToolShed Waikato Warehouse sent off two 40-foot containers, as well as one truckload full of product to each store. This included 72 pallets of stock, 24,300kg worth, and 13,693 total items. And that’s just The ToolShed branded products, not including the stock that comes directly from our named supplier brands.

At both grand openings, you can expect plenty of exclusive in-store specials, bonus offers, and giveaways of both supplier and ToolShed brand items, with plenty of ToolShed vouchers to be won for participating in challenges, as well as awesome merchandise giveaways, such as caps, keyrings, water bottles, shirts, and bags; all you have to do is show up.
