Top Tractor Showcase 2016: the official line-up

It’s not often you see such an impressive line-up of tractors of different brands, all within a similar price bracket and with similar capabilities.

But that’s exactly what the Farm Trader Top Tractor Showcase 2016 created at Fieldays this year.

Given the current economic climate, the Farm Trader team decided to showcase tractors from around New Zealand to find the best value for money, as well as highlighting the spec level for tractors priced under $100,000.

Each tractor in the showcase met the same criteria:

  • Loader
  • Cab
  • 4WD
  • Suited to farmers and contractors
  • The price of the total package, including extras was to be under $100,000 excluding GST.

Each tractor was tested by Farm Trader experts Jaiden Drought and Brent Lilley, putting them through their paces at Fieldays, loading and unloading sand and working with a bale grab.

The tractors were assessed on a variety of benchmarks: performance, user-friendliness, build quality, transmission, engine, value for money, etc.

We considered Fieldays the perfect venue to showcase and test different brands of tractors, to offer readers a comprehensive overview on each tractor over the coming months. We took an in-depth look at features such as suspension, cab layout, hydraulics, linkage, serviceability and innovation.

Next month we bring you the first of two tractor tests from the Top Tractor Showcase and keep an eye on our website as we’ll be posting video footage regularly (look out for our bloopers reel).
